You could call this thread a gravedancer's union
since he probably hated unions, that's a good call!
Thank you, mags. One thing this event showed me is my internet filters are set far too classily. Been getting barely 10 percent of the Breitbart reaction I want.
I may be next and I don't care. Fuck this guy to the grave.
totes down to ride hard for this thread
this is kinda out of character for me (i hope) at least but no one deserves less respect, living or dead
there may be one or two characters more deserving for me, but Breitbart was totes up there in the top tier
i know that when magma unleashes on someone, they really deserve it, as mags is one of the more even-tempered folks on this board.
totes down for the breitbart dogpile

Hmmmm... Lee Atwater would certainly occupy the same fetid pool.
After Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts died in 2009, Breitbart tweeted, "Rest in Chappaquiddick" and called him "a special pile of human excrement." When critics questioned his tone, he tweeted they "missed my best ones!"
Yeah. Fuck this guy.

I have no idea who this guy was

he was the head chef at poop burgers

he was the head chef at poop burgers boogers

I'm glad that this was started by one of the nicest guys on the board - it wouldn't have the same gravitas if bitter ol' me had done it.
Can't believe the boo-hooing on sites like HuffPo over this. "Provocateur"? He made it his life's work to shit on the least fortunate and destroy anyone who suggested different.
it's mean to be hyped when people die but this guy was a true prick to the grave
rest in piss breitbart

I hope anybody who hates me will talk shit about me when I die.

Why wait?

You're right. I'll just nip off and shoot myself.

Can't believe the boo-hooing on sites like HuffPo over this.
Well he did help launch Huffington Post, so I'm not surprised about that one.
He probably O.D.'d on pills, right? That's what those guys are into?
I heard he died of a drug overdose while engaging in a gay sex orgy. At least that's what I posted as the headline on my "news" website.

Eagerly awaiting emily's autopsy.

Haha, from the Fox News site: Widely read conservative Internet publisher Andrew Breitbart, whose flare for battle with politicians and the mainstream media earned him a reputation as one of the nation's most influential commentators , died Thursday.
Anyone else read this sentence and come away thinking "he was our nation's most influential Internet Commenter? Prestigious!

UJ: Referring to the comments section, which I usually try to avoid like the plague.

I haven't heard of any of these dead bloggers until they die.

Never heard of him but fuck this guy.
His biggest offenses:
Unleashing James O Keefe on the world
Shirley Sherrod fiasco (he aired only small clips of her 40+ minute speech, that without any context made her sound racist)
Helped launch Huffington Post

And this is where it becomes difficult to honor the Roman injunction to speak no ill of the dead. It’s difficult for me to assess Breitbart’s impact upon American media and American politics as anything other than poisonous. When one of the leading media figures of the day achieves his success by his giddy disdain for truth and fairness—when one of our leading political figures offers to his admirers a politics inflamed by rage and devoid of ideas—how to withhold a profoundly negative judgment on his life and career?
Especially when that career was so representative of his times?
i believe this asshat was a constant defender of shitface snitch brandon darby

On a more positive note, today is a good day to throw some love to groups trying to do some of the same work that ACORN did. I know MPIRG covers some of that, but I am not super familiar with them overall.
shugE / zsa zsa /drewcifer etc - any other good ideas?

Only 43, hmm.
Briefbarf, amirite?

Does he count as a number two in a Rule Of 3's thing behind Whitney Houston, or is he not famous enough? I need to know.

I very rarely comment on threads like this, but the tone of it makes me pause and wonder if the shoe were on the other foot... say, a beloved peace-loving senator from MN dies in a plane crash mere weeks before his probable reelection, for instance... would the glee spouted from the conservatives on gaining a seat and getting rid of a thorn in their sides, as well as the posthumous personal attacks sit well with you?
They guy had a family of 4 kids and a wife that are totally fucked up over this right now and as much of a dick he might have been, celebrating the death of him is pretty reprehensible.
As liberal and compassionate as the people on this board are, I guess I expect more than some of the vitriol posted here.
Stay classy, board.
boo hoo
If that beloved, peace loving senator from here did the kind of thing Breitbart did, yes, I would say the personal attacks would sit well with me. This isn't about right or left. This is about right and wrong.

maybe it's not classy, maybe i should have said i was happy he died
but i don't hope that he finds any peace, certainly not the peace he worked his whole life to deny others
er shouldn't have said i was happy he died
yeah, there is a SIZEABLE gulf between this shitbird and your garden variety senator.
Breitbart made a name for himself by shitting on dead people who DIDN'T do abhorrable things.
A piece of shit is a piece of shit, regardless of family size, political affiliation, etc.
only took 15 minutes for asshat repubs to start responding to my twitter attacks.
SUCCESS
I was hoping he would go down in flames - great big public humiliating flames of scandal and ruin that would make his name synonymous with shame and shit forever, and that he would live a long life taunted by his epic public humiliation.
Dying in his sleep of a heart attack (which is what I am guessing happened because of the timing of the announcement) is not the fate I would have wished upon him. All that will happen now is that he will be lionized, eulogized, his real legacy turd-polished, and a number of new fresh-faced fuckwits will be inspired to take his place.
Orbit, I don't really feel like any group (at least not locally) does the kind of work that ACORN did on welfare rights, low-income neighborhood organizing, and housing rights. the closest i see to any local group carrying the torch of what local ACORN did is the anti-forclosure work the occupy folks have been doing. (i'm only talking local cuz i feel as a local and someone who once worked for MN ACORN that's the only perspective I have enough knowledge to have).

If you don't want people pissing on your grave, don't lead a life that makes people want to piss on your grave.
also, don't piss on other people's graves and then expect people to behave differently when you are the dead one.

someone texted me to tell me this guy died and told me that this dude was basically the unlovable conservative version of me
i think that is a compliment?

Has stinkfinger always been a sanctimonious scold or is this a new thing?
Nah, Dustroyer, this is a new thing & I don't think what he's saying is entirely unreasonable.
I strongly disagree with him though. I wish this Breitbart fuckwit could come back to life so he can die again, in a manner more like frumy described.
Well the part where stinkfinger tried to create equivalency with Paul Wellstone (wtf) was pretty unreasonable...
nah stinkfinger is probably, like, RIGHT in the larger scheme of things really but i don't really view it that way in this particular instance

sniffle sniffle!

It's just nice to be able to cross someone off The List w/o having to lift a finger, y'know?

i'm so happy he is dead it's like saturday afternoon in america
where is his grave? i would like to dance and piss on it at the same time

I nominate TRL to DJ the dance party.

My analogy was off-base... Sorry, 'bout that. But the sentiment remains.
Dude's dead. No need to be all doing cartwheels and shit.

Nope. we got the vitriol for that one covered too. The son of R. Kahn posts here.
are we still supposed to be sad that Bin Laden died? I am confused how this stuff works.
I'm still sad about when the guy who became Slimer was murdered.
are you talking about Brandon Lee in The Crow?
Fuck it... I give up.
Have at it.
I'm with stinkfinger and also frumi. It's sad that his family is probably in a dark place right now. But also theres no real justice in his death. Sounds like in was painless enough. So it would be preferable for him to have to live hell on earth then get to escape with sweet sweet death.
Will it suffice to say that I am happy that his particular voice and 'activism' will no longer exist in the public sphere? The people who have been hurt by the actions of Breibart (and those like him) have families too.
Shirley Sherrod is being a total saint right now, btw.

not sure if Savage was being sarcastic or not here, but i would stand by this statement. i don't want anybody to hate me, but if anyone does hate my fucking guts, go ahead and rejoice when i'm gone, i wouldn't want it any other way.
Anyone consider that his family probably hated him and is also glad to see him go? The only folks who express any sorrow over this loss aren't doing it with actual human emotions.

Good point. In the true spirit of Breitbart they are "mourning" his death with baseless accusations against people who believe in different things than they do.

Close this piece of shit thread and never speak this bastards name again.

i fucked Andrew Breitbart's wife

Now that's my kind of lionizing.

I was hoping this thread would show up. I guess he beat most of the anti-Walker protestors, whom he told to go to hell, to the punch?
What if Breitbart was molesting his kids? If so, they are probably glad he is dead. I'm not saying he did or didn't, I'm just asking questions, that is what the news is all about.

If you don't want people pissing on your grave, don't lead a life that makes people want to piss on your grave.
And my own contribution:
Say "Hi" to Lee Atwater for me. I only wish Breitbart would have physically manifested into what he was on the inside the way Atwater did before he met his maker.

I was being 100% serious. I would find little to be more distasteful than insincere eulogizing from someone who is honestly pleased not to have to deal with me anymore. Speak ill of me when I am dead if you must. I'll be free in any case.

YOU FOOLS! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT BREITBART WOULD HAVE WANTED!
Rather than gloating, let's raise taxes on the rich and give the money to to people who don't work.

Seriously though, super pleased.

Kind of disgusting, some of the 'lefty' media coverage (referring to Larry O'Donnell's show on MSNBC, and The Takeaway this a.m.). Most of it was along the lines of "Well, he fabricated this bit or said this really nasty thing about me, but at the end of the day, when you put down your Twitter handle or get off your blog, you're still a human being". Somehow, I don't think that the people impacted in any number of negative and tangible ways by his life's work will take comfort in that.
As if I needed a reminder that these assholes are all in this together. . .
"still a human being" is kind of the worst insult of all if you look at it right.
I think Taibbi is spot on. He would absolutely want people talking about him and his death this way, I'm sure he'd be happy that he made enough of an impact that someone feels that strongly about him in either direction, love him or hate him.
Hahahahaha Clone nailed it.

Taibbi died?

Some vindictive Breitbart supporter just enabled others like him to personally target Taibbi. In States United, posse comitatus comitatusses you! Who the KGB needs?
sorry, the obit taibbi wrote.
24 hours later and still feeling pretty good about this
Even if you just limited the appraisal of his work to that of his playing a supporting role in the nationwide attempt to further disenfranchise whole political power-deficient segments of the population - and in so doing, structurally undermine democratic principles in this country and possibly the country itself in the long run - he should be fucking vilified.
From across the mortal coil, even.
Has anyone considered that he could have somehow faked his own death as a publicity stunt?
I'm not seeing the Taiibi update. Link?

It's the same link i posted yesterday.

Yeah, it's not showing up in the mobile version I guess? I'll find it.

Show us the death certificate.

this just seems like a good thread for this:
ya'll may remember the republicans' congressional hearing about obama's new birth control insurance deal
and how the hearing was like all women
and there was one woman who was going to speak but didn't get to, so she gave her speech to just the dems
then limbaugh went on the air and called her a slut and prostitute for needing so much birth control
now she's getting on news programs and getting phone calls from obama
and limbaughs advertisers are getting swarmed on twitter and dropping like flies
so my point is
i hope limbaugh fucking dies too
Hearing was all men, but that was prolly a typo

The thing about Rush is he is obviously doing this for the reaction, not because he necessarily believes this stuff. He's a troll, that's all. Not that I won't be any less happy when he dies.

i told you that in confidence.

I think it does a disservice to the public discourse when people take a "don't feed the troll" mentality. If someone that is extreme has enough impact nationally to enter the public discussion, then it absolutely empowers them by having their opponents say "let's just lay low and ignore them and maybe they'll go away." Grow a fucking pair and call a pig a pig.

So Hannity showed the video that would allegedly bring down Obama last night.
All it was was him introducing the guy who will be the Jeremiah Wright of this election.
He died for that? What a loser!

A video that proves Obama really did go to Harvard after all.
And a story that was already covered by the elite media years ago.
