Fine, I'll be the first dork to post after the show. Great show all around. Three very different bands, but it all went really well together. All very top-notch. Had no idea what to expect from Myrrh in particular and it was so cool.
Also nice to meet a grip of Boarders. I'm bad at small talk and tend to be a recluse, even when I'm out in public, so thanks for coming up and saying hi and chatting. It's funny to me that I've been seeing shows in this town for 17 years and playing shows for almost as long but there's a whole chunk of music going on that I pretty much know nothing about and am only slowly finding. Almost entirely thanks to this board.
Serious bonus points to Manny for walking me to my ramp. Now THAT is service.

Also, I really enjoyed the bridal party with all the "maid of honor" sashes and whatnot that bailed out while Dreamless was tuning up. When I came in, two of them had been seeking reassurance from the door guy that they would be able to get back in without paying.

I'll be a son of a bitch if this wasn't the best time I've had in months. Thanks to the bands that played, all of the friends and other people who came out that I didn't know and especially to Hell's Kitchen for allowing stellar nights to go down after the dinner crowd clears out. It seemed like everyone who was there enjoyed themselves and I love that.
There's a separate story not worth getting into about the singer of some band called Dog.wood enjoying all 3 bands so much that he insisted that I go back to one of their three $200,000 tour buses parked across the street to talk about Minneapolis music. That's another thread or something. I eventually called 24/7 and hit the bricks.

I had an extremely densely-packed Sunday what with accidentally destroying my car's rear window after the show (Hiwatt cabs apparently don't fit vertically in the back of my station wagon), hosting a Mothers' Day brunch at my house, going to the MayDay parade and strolling around the park, and finally heading to the burbs for a baby shower for my sister-in-law, so please forgive the tardiness of this post.
I had an amazing time on Saturday night, and I'd like to thank Empty a million times over for setting this up for us. It was a great bill for us to be a part of, and I loved seeing both the other bands. At the beginning, Svoboda reminded me of a cross between Converge and Harvey Milk, but after the first two songs, more lines blurred, and it wasn't as easy to define, except to say "fucking amazing." Love yr riffs, guys. And Myrrh was extremely cool and noisy and head-noddingly great.
Thank you to Adam and Dustin for being a part of Dreamless for this show. People who have seen the other three of us play live as The Kafka Dreams said you guys made the band much much better, and I agree.
Thanks to everyone who came out for all the positive feedback and love-showing. Special thanks to Turlough's Axe and his lady for buying me drinks. Special thanks also to Adam and Sharyn for the awesome pics, and a preliminary thanks to empty again, for recording the show. We also got some nice video footage that Cory will be editing, using empty's recording (if he's cool with it) into a document of the event.

I was hoping I would run into Turlough's Axe and after one of Randi's cute little taps on the shoulder I finally knew which hand to shake. Very nice meeting you.
My friend PJ also came out to record audio so we actually have 2 audience recordings (pair of AKG 414s & pair of Schoeps MK4s) and 2 tracks off the board for all three bands. I'll make sure all the bands get all the recordings and they can of course use them/not use them however they'd like. PJ's a little more on top of his post-editing skills & time management as far as actually doing fancy things with his recordings versus going out 6 nights a week and letting really nice recordings just sit on a computer (me). Point being, he'll probably be doing some 4 track "matrix" with the Schoeps/SBD sources. His end results are always top notch. Ok, I'm done dorking out about Recording Live Music for now.
