Zig's birthday meal was at Taco Taxi. Lately I've been getting a side of rice and covering it in salsa picante. It's a more satisfying meal than consuming 3-4 tacos (gasp). zotripoli got an asada quesadilla that was pretty amazing. Made me remember how much I love queso blanco.

Had vegetarian nachos (NO THANK YOU, I DON'T WANT THE VEGAN CHEESE) before the cedar show. A Vern joint. I've had hella burnt cheese in the middle of my nachos recently so now I ask who's cooking before I order them. Anything Ramona or Vern cooks is always pretty amazing. The lettuce kind of hides how good they were but whatever. $6 during happy hour and it's a god damn meal. $3 rails and pints. I like to do half Newcastle & half cider (I guess Hardcore went out of business so now it's Crispin). 3-4 of those really hits the spot. Pickled and or fresh jalapenos for life.

This Italian beef from "David's grill" in Lawndale was "ok" but apparently the sweet peppers ended up just being sauteed bell peppers? Probably should have known better with a place who slangs, "Chicago food", Mexican food and gyros etc. all under one roof. Mental note: stick with neighborhood delis vs. "get every thing in one spot places." It was unfortunately the only spot around.

I hate black pepper (and really don't eat like a grownup).

I eat scrambled eggs with cheese and cream soup with crackers. There are other flavors besides black pepper in this world. You can live without it. I always just thought it was a cop-out spice other people used because they didn't like their food.

I arrived at amh's memorial day bbq armed with two kinds of brats from sentyrz but I had no idea there was going to be GRILLED PIZZA. This is something my dad and I used to make in Phoenix in the mid 90s. This is the prosciutto pie. I didn't get a chance to snag one of makr's vegetarian but that looked delicious as well. Adam left 10 minutes before the pizza was ready. I couldn't understand what the hell was going on. Maybe he didn't realize there was going to be grilled pizza... :/

boris, i remember looking at their menu a couple of years ago and they had giardiniera listed. that's what i was looking for when i came across "pickled peppers." then i was all..."what the hay why don't they just say banana peppers, no wait, i think these are pepperoncinis. yes, these are pepperoncinis." the sauce to cheese to peppers ratio kind of blew my mind on top of that amazing crust.

i'll be back to try the regular tomato-oregano and the tomato-meatball you suggested. i can believe that these pizzas do not need cheese.
