C'mon APPROXIMATELY?
About once a year a show totally reaffirms my love of punk rock and live music in general. This show was everything I wanted it to be. I'm sweaty, sore, my ears are ringing, and I'm not at all tired.
Now I'm ready to kick off summer.
yes! thank you! this show was perfect! loooooved it!
I'm so relieved this show ended early. First mornin shift in 2 years and i'm makin it there "on time" !! Win win win!
Hammerhead was great and all but I feel like I made the wrong choice last night.
wah-wah
we were hoping to be able to see all the bands and hammerhead, but we had to leave during obn iii to make it to the turf. what we saw was a really fun set. bummed to have missed royal headache last night but figured we'll just see them saturday.
I loved Royal Headache as expected, but I gotta say OBNIIIs kinda stole the show. Maybe not song-wise, but just through sounding tough and heavy and awesome.
yeah their record i was kinda meh on. but after last nite they won me over. sooooo good
This show was great! Thank you to everyone who showed up and had a good time.
OBNIIIs were damn good. Southern fried garage-punk that were indeed both heavy and tough with lots of 'tude. If the characters of SE Hinton's "The Outsiders" started a band, I'd imagine it'd sound something like this.
Royal Headache just completely floors me every time. They are everything I want and need in my life. Their music is like a girl that I'm completely smitten with and it makes me smile all the time. I was so exhausted last night, but they gave me the shot of energy that I needed. The new songs melted me and the ones off the record had me singing along.
For those of you who missed out, I highly recommend the show on Saturday. Not only is the show stacked with great locals, but you get a second chance to see Royal Headache. They will also have their merch for purchase at this show. Also keep in mind this will be one of their last tours in the States for at least a couple years since they all have real jobs, so don't miss out!

saw the last two bands. nice time. i was standing in the worst spot and everyone kept walking past me and touching my arms or body or rubbing against me and i was getting really annoyed cause i just wanted to watch the band and was like "oh my god you are the same guy walking in and out of the door 7 fucking times" and then i moved into this spot that water was dripping on me. ha it was good, though.
ALSO, there was a girl there with some shirt on and i first thought it was sadistik exekution ha and i was really excited and confused and was gunna say "coooool ks are way better than cs" but it turned out to be something else i couldn't read.
do they have t-shirts?!?!?! i want a t-shirt soooooo bad.
also i thought the singer of RH was some midway weirdo who stumbled into the show
I kinda want everyone to stop bumping this thread because I'm pissed at myself for going to the Turf instead.
Ima cry now
LOL howie zz me too for a sec. their accents just made them sound wasted.
and he was wearing a winter coat and dressed like some guy who hangs out at the schooner during the day. and he kept shooting me these I'M GONNA KILL YOU LOOKS
remodeling, I totally sympathize--regardless of venue, I feel like I end up in that spot all the time.
That's why I learned to mosh at an early age. At some point during OBN III, someone picked me up and I unintentionally ended up crowd surfing in a basement with a 7 foot ceiling. That's pretty much my definition of "party hard"
I made the idiot move of assuming the show started at the time it was posted and showed up an hour before anyone else except for Royal Headache. The RH guys were super nice. We talked about the proud history of Australian atheletes playing pro US sports. They were excited to be in the town where Luke Hughes used to play 2nd base.
i saw you get picked up. i have a broken ankle so i gotta stand in the back.

Oh, I've done this so many times... did it the last time I went to the Midway House, in fact.
The sad part is that I've been doing that since I was 14, and yet I still haven't learned. I blame the occasional organized house show where you show up an hour after the posted time and miss the first two bands.
Yes! Exactly! How do other people have this intuitive grasp of Punk Time?
gin and tonic's for dinner = punk time
OBN was truly stellar. Had a great time. Without removing my shoes I somehow lost a sock, weird.
baby's first punk show.
i got there at 11 and sat in the back of a big brown van making up fake slogans for an hour. i hope the person who left their dome light on made it home okay.
Remodeling! I am recovering from a broken ankle myself! Such a bummer when ya can't get wild. I can't wait till I can return to partyin hard.
ya it totally sucks. i made an exception when i went to omaha with brain tumors ha cause everyone was just standing there and i was like "wat guys get a load of this band." standing back is not so bad. normally when you leave you dont smell like someone took a rubber stamp and dipped it into that guys armpit and stamped you all over.
i didnt even look for merchandising.
does royal headache have that first 7" for sale?
Yeah, I don't think RH had anything set up for merch. OBNIIIs were selling stuff after the show out of their van. I'm working on getting some LPs for Noise. Will post here with any developments.
The show was great as expected. Thanks Phil to Andy. Also to Ben and whoever else that lives at Midway House.
