AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Sweet! They were great last time at the Southern Theater.
What waa
I was just listening to them in the car the other night.
Holy cow! A day after Mission of Burma at the 400 Bar too!
The day before my birthday!
September is gonna be a busy month
Reunion for zsa zsa, pipat, and stu. It could be 15 years to the day that we all unknowingly, enjoyed one another's company in this venue with this band.
That's pretty cool.
now i feel all old 'n' shit.
Anyone know how much this is? I don't see it on The Cedar's site yet.
$100
Thanks!
just pay me, I'll take care of everything
Ha, sounds like a deal to me.
day before my birthday as well!
Oh man, cannot wait! They were SO good last time.
Also, I'm sick and feeling lousy and sort of pitiful. This is the best thing I've ever heard all day.
Why does it say @ 400 Bar on the Shows page?
cuz maybe someone took my $100 joke to heart?
Its definitely at the Cedar and not the 400 Bar
the cedar is practically at the 400 bar. TAI.
The Dirty Three will be playing in the 400 Bar which will be in the Cedar Cultural Center
this is exciting.
YES
For $18 I will see this, yes.
just bought tics!
I'd pay $18 just to watch Jim White play drums
Hmm, should I actually go to the 400 Bar (ick) to buy tickets? I don't want to pay the stupid fees online.
this is at the ccc, not four-hundo-bah
Wow. I need more coffee. And I'd definitely rather buy tickets at the CCC.

I'm not crazy! If you go to the Shows list view it says 400 Bar. So glad it's not there.
Anyhow, bump for THIS MONTH
The Cedar is also hosting Fanfare Ciocarlia two days before this which will be awesome. If you happen to enjoy terrific Eastern European brass bands
who's going?
oh fuck i forgot about this, i was gonna go to the lynx game but i probably shouldnt

standing room cedar? it would have to be a LOT of people, even for a friday night.
c'mon hot legs!
I'm @ gabe's in IC... I walked over here and had no idea that they were playing. Going on right now.
Warren Ellis is the new god.... as always. I don't think anyone can match his stage banter. The sound wasn't great at first and they were a little sloppy to start, but it quickly became a powerfully hypnotic affair. Bring bananas with you..
They enjoy the potassium high
super looking forward to this!
Shit. I read brilly's comment and for a split second thought this show had already happened and somehow I had missed it. PHEW
Looking forward to this show to the point where I hope I'm not setting my expectations too high.
Fine weather for the Dirty Three.
wait, is it back to Gabe's Oasis now? when did that happen?
The picador moniker never really took. Most people still called it gabe's anyways.
Ah, myself included.
Set times:
Cairo Gang - 8:00
Dirty Three - 9:00
Has anyone seen Cairo Gang? Are they worth showing up early for?
All I know about Cairo Gang is that it is Emmett Kelly who's played with Bonnie Prince Billy among others and Ryan Weinstein (Coffin Pricks, sometimes Joan of Arc, Euphone, etc, etc) is playing bass
i hope the sound folks are ready for this, the d3 shook the house in chicago wed night, and ellis kept gesturing for more in all the monitors.
I have heard good things about the Cairo Gang but am not privy to whether or not they are true
D3 has hired a sound guy from chicago for their tour. I'm sure he'll get the hang of it after a couple of shows under his belt. They did the same thing when they played at the Southern Theatre last time.
I am really looking forward to tonight!
Now all I know about Cairo Gang is they are sleeping on my floor while I am at work.
Dirty Three were wild, expansive and great. Played for nearly two and a half hours, though to be fair at least an hour of that was Ellis intro-ing songs. A great night.
I went on a whim having heard neither band prior and was very happy I did. The Dirty Three were great!
Loved this show. Wow. Expectations exceeded
Thought the Cairo Gang were ok, except when they were singing
I hate being poor. ~>O
great pics!
saw a ton of people from here which was great.
and yeah, this show was really cool.
this was so unbelievably ripping. what a great group
I had a feeling that there were many MRMBers at this event, but I don't know many of you in person still.
dude, we roll-called just up there
I saw a few people I recognized but not a lot of people I knew. The recognition I am guessing is mainly from other shows/the decent pictures thread/sharyn's photos.
That was really something. There was a little too much wankery during the first half of the set for my liking, but the second half was fucking transcendent. Really excellent stuff. I was buzzing from it for a couple hours after the show. Great.
Yeah the crowd got weird and kind of rude towards the middle, but the end of what I saw was great. I had to duck out before the end so I am not sure what I missed.
I had to leave at 10:30, so it sounds like I missed the best part. I wasn't blown away by what I saw, especially compared to the incredible show they put on at the Southern in 2009. They didn't get the mix right until around the time I had to leave and I had trouble getting a good view of Jim on drums.
I'm still glad I went -- Warren's banter alone made it worth the price of admission.
