Yellow Swans

Yellow Swans was the collaboration of Pete Swanson (formerly a member of Mur*der) and Gabriel Mindel Saloman (formerly a member of Boxleitner). The name YELLOW SWANS often prefaced with a changing “D” word; changing to reflect the constantly evolving nature of the music, dialogue between the music and those hearing it and naming it.  The first show for Yellow Swans was in December of 2001, in Portland OR. The group went on to tour the world several times with almost 100 releases.  They were located out of  San Francisco/Oakland CA most of their time as a group.  The musical approach was improvisational music, primarily using electronic instruments and processing, with respect to the methodology of international underground musics and DIY culture. Musically comparable to a distillation of American hardcore, Free improvisation, Dub, Hip Hop, Noise, Industrial, and Modern Composition. Interested in full spectrum tonality, sonic exploration, the opening of new doors of perception, spiritual journey, and the establishment of new, meaningful shared cultural experience in the tradition of folk and native musics from around the globe. Interested in full spectrum tonality, sonic exploration, and free form musical construction.

Instrumentation: Includes 1/4″ Tape, Guitar, Voice, Drum Machines, Microphones, Mixer Feedback, and Various Electronics.

Primary Goals: Freedom, Happiness, Love, and the sharing and incitement of these feelings in others. Positivity. Total Liberatio

Yellow Swans performed their last show as a group in June of 2008 in Spain at the Primavera festival. Their last US shows were coincided with the 9 year anniversary of Modern Radio.  Several records have been released posthumously including “Going Places” their final full length album in 2010.
